Proof

This fall we had the pleasure of writing with US author Nick Flynn. We had been reading his poetry over the years and then this fall, when he lived in Vancouver for a few months, we got to know him.  We passed around a couple copies of Another Bullshit Night in Suck City, his memoir about becoming a writer while working in Boston’s Pine Street Inn shelter where his father was a guest. Nick sat and wrote with us a few times and then one Thursday read to us and gave us a chance to riff off his writing. He led us in some writing promtps, too. We  asked him questions about process, form, the role of the subconscious in good writing – all sorts of things. The conversation was far ranging and we got a lot out of it. He’ll always have a seat at our table.

Nick heard about our efforts to raise money for another book and he sent this little video to help:

Every dollar we raise over our $6000 goal will help our writers get to and from readings, republish our chapbooks and fund all the extras that aren’t covered by grants and publishing money but that are nonetheless necessary!

We’re at 106% and we have two days left! Let’s get to $7000!
